Tips for Using a Recruiter

  1. Ask lots of questions: Your recruiter should be there to answer your questions. The decision to come to teach overseas is a big one, and your recruiter should always be available to answer any questions and concerns you have about the process.
  2. Make the recruiter back up their professionalism: Make sure that they are set up properly. Ask if they have a business license. Check their contact information. Make sure that they are more than just an email address, but in fact have an office that can take your calls. Preferably the recruiting office is in Korea where they can be fully available to you while you are working in Korea.
  3. Experience: Experience is important. Ask them about their experience in Korea. Preferably they have worked there themselves as English teachers and have experience working in the schools.
  4. Never give money: Do not send money to any recruiting agency. Any recruiting agency that asks applicants for money should be avoided. Recruiting agencies are paid by the schools, not the applicant. The only cost for the applicant is the cost of preparing their documents in their own country to send to Korea.
